Christmas dinner: what you should know about outfits and etiquette
"What to wear to Christmas dinner" – you've probably searched for this on Google at some point. And it's true, Christmas dinner only happens once a year, and we love to look spectacular for it. This year, we have the keys to success. So, let's talk about fashion and etiquette.
Do you know what to wear for Christmas dinner?
We have a very clear idea here, because we love it. Velvet or sequins, and we're going to explain why we think they are key to Christmas dinner. On the one hand, velvet is a very pleasant, comfortable, and versatile fabric (yes, we know we use the word versatile a lot, but in fashion, versatile garments are key). On the other hand, it's warm if you decide to go out after your Christmas dinner. Why is it important for it to be comfortable? Because you'll be able to move with complete freedom. Do you have children? Bending down to pick them up so they don't break anything at grandma and grandpa's house will be easy. And, in this case, both the Jara skirt, top and blazer set and the velvet blazer and palazzo pants set will be your best allies. However, if you want to be bolder, velvet also suits you. Our heart dress is daring, sensual, and sensational for a Christmas dinner. With it, you'll be the queen of all parties (for a price that will blow your mind). Sequins. At Mariquita Trasquilá, we love sequins, or as the French say, paillettes. Why? Because sparkle always adds a touch of glamor to any look. That's why sequins can be your greatest allies at Christmas dinner. In this case, there are thousands of possible looks, but it will always depend on your style. For example, a sequined bodysuit with basic black pants is always a win. But, one of our favorites is, without a doubt, the gold sequin dress. It's simple, elegant, and the fringe adds a fun touch. A sure hit at your Christmas dinner. But, let's not forget, if you prefer silver to gold, the fringe and paillette dress is yours. Also, with sequins, it's the same as with velvet. If you want to be the queen of the dance floor after Christmas dinner, your look must include the mini sequin dress or multi-colored sequin dress.
Etiquette Rules for Christmas Dinner
Do you want to surprise your family? Is it the first Christmas dinner you're sharing with friends, a partner, or your partner's family? Or are you simply interested in the etiquette rules for Christmas dinner? Then keep reading because we're going to give you some very simple tips that we sometimes forget.
- We should know the guests. Ask beforehand about the people you'll meet there, their names, hobbies, or jobs; this way you can always call them by name, and it will be much more personal.
- DO NOT USE YOUR CELL PHONE! At this type of dinner, it's not common to have emergencies because the emergencies for that night are seated at the table. So, we'll avoid using our phones during Christmas dinner and keep them off the table. They will only be allowed for taking photos.
Things to avoid:
- Taking very large portions from the center. At these dinners, there are usually many of us, and... sharing is caring!
- Eating with your mouth open and/or chewing too fast.
- Talking with your mouth full. We probably already know this, but it's a basic that needs to be remembered.
- Food stuck between your teeth. We know we're asking a lot and that this is very difficult, but... try to keep it together! Once dinner is over, you can go to the bathroom and remove it.
Is it your turn to prepare Christmas dinner? We also have some tips:
- Lighting is essential; try to make it natural and soft. If there are candles, which we know are beautiful, be careful with them!
- Use a one-piece tablecloth and matching napkins.
- Always place napkins on the plate, and for family gatherings, napkin rings are allowed. So, if they are pretty, they can help you decorate the table.
- We love charger plates, but nothing is placed on them; they are merely decorative to make the table look nice, but you can use them or not, it's your choice.
- All glasses should always be transparent so that we can see their contents at all times. This way, if you are the host and have more reserved guests, you can refill their glasses. However, glasses should never be filled to the brim.
- All cutlery should be on the table from the beginning, arranged from the outside in. Dessert cutlery is the exception and can be placed on the table later, when dessert is served.
We hope this helps. If you have more suggestions for Christmas dinner, share them with us in the comments because, as we said before, sharing is caring!
