FASCINATORS AND HEADPIECES: OUR RECOMMENDATIONS

Do you want to go a step further and dare to wear a pamela (wide-brimmed hat),headband or fascinator, but you don't know what types of pamelas there are, when they are used, and especially where to buy pamelas? Then keep reading because we have many recommendations and tips prepared for you to be a perfect guest with a pamela or fascinator. As wedding guests, we always strive to be more original, while always respecting the bride and knowing that she is the main protagonist. Therefore, there is no better choice than to add pamelas or fascinators for weddings to our look, although we must know how to choose the pamela that best matches our outfit and flatters our face the most. But... do you know which are the best options for you? If you want to know more about pamelas and fascinators for weddings, stay tuned because below we bring you all the information you need to know about them.

TYPES OF PAMELAS AND FASINATORS

Among pamelas, fascinators and headbands for weddings, there are several types, and below we tell you which ones they are, so you can choose the one that best suits you.

PAMELAS

Wedding pamelas are wide-brimmed hats with a high crown (which mainly differentiates them from the boater hat) whose use is restricted only to day wedding looks. If you are looking to disguise your silhouette, you can create a play of volumes, by having a large pamela draw all the attention and thus disguise your hips or whatever you like least, as all eyes will be on your head. In addition, if you have chosen a simple dress, you can enhance it and give it a lot of life by combining it with a spectacular party pamela.

BOATER HAT

The wedding boater hat is a type of pamela, which differs from the rest by its shape, as, unlike them, boater hats have a low crown. Initially, their use was mainly for country weddings, although now many guests with boater hats opt for them at all types of weddings. If you are tall, you can place the guest boater hat quite straight, but if, on the contrary, you are rather short, we recommend tilting it to one side, so that this visual effect adds height to your body.

PAMELAS AND BOATER HATS PROTOCOL:

  • Wedding pamelas follow a stricter protocol than other accessories, as their use is restricted solely to day weddings.
  • In addition, pamelas for morning weddings, according to protocol, should only be worn between March and October, provided it does not rain. If you think about it, the main function of pamelas is to protect us from the sun, so it wouldn't make much sense to wear one on a rainy day.
  • The pamela should fall on the right side of our head, as, according to protocol, the left side will be reserved for our companion.
  • If you are wondering when to take off your pamela at a wedding, we will tell you that according to protocol, they are worn until sunset, or if you want to take it off earlier, you can do so when the bride and groom dance the first waltz.
  • According to Vogue magazine, party pamelas are somewhat less versatile than fascinators, so it is most appropriate to wear them at day weddings and with cocktail dresses.

FASCINATORS

Fascinators are smaller and more discreet than wedding pamelas, and their use can extend from day weddings to evening weddings, but you should keep in mind that the later the wedding, the smaller your fascinator should be. We recommend that, if you have opted for a stunning dress, it is ideal to wear simple fascinators for day weddings, that do not steal attention from the rest of your look. If you want to know more about fascinators, keep reading because later we will tell you about the fascinator protocol and how to combine them according to your face, your body, etc.

HEADBANDS

Headbands for weddings are the most discreet choice when it comes to selecting a party fascinator. It is true that it is a very versatile accessory, as it is usually easier to combine with other accessories, in addition to being the one that steals the least attention from your look. So, if you opt for a more striking guest dress, we think that party headbands are a great choice.

FASCINATORS AND HEADBANDS PROTOCOL:

  • Fascinators for a wedding follow a less strict protocol, as they can be worn at any time of year, both at day weddings and evening weddings.
  • Ideally, guest headbands with more striking materials or bejeweled fascinators should be reserved for the evening.
  • You can use fascinators for morning weddings with both short dresses, midi dresses, or long dresses, although with the latter we recommend choosing a fascinator that doesn't detract from your look.
  • If you want to know when to take off your fascinator at a wedding, according to protocol, unlike pamelas, fascinators will stay with you for the duration of the wedding, meaning, ideally, you shouldn't take it off, so we recommend choosing one that is comfortable for you.

MATERIALS FOR WEDDING FASINATORS AND PAMELAS:

Flower pamelas

Feather pamelas

Bow pamelas

Raffia headband

We recommend that if your guest dress is multicolored, you opt for single-toned flowers as the combination of colors could clash.

WHICH PAMELA SUITS ME BEST?

Something very important, which is not usually taken into account, is that you should choose a pamela color that matches your hair color. For example, if you are a brunette, pamelas in light colors will suit you better, and if you are a blonde, a black pamela or boater hat will suit you better. On the other hand, the shape of your face is also very important, and as Hola magazine says, "letting yourself be guided by trends is key (...) But, without a doubt, if there is an essential factor in the decision, it is the type of face and what best suits the features of the guest." Here are some of our recommendations:

  • If you have a round face, we recommend a side fascinator, straight and elevated upwards, which will give verticality to your face and also slim it.
  • If, on the contrary, you have an oval face, you are in luck, as you can wear all kinds of designs without fear of them not suiting you. Oval faces are the most versatile when choosing your fascinator, and we know that the only problem you will have is not knowing which one to choose.
  • For square faces, as with round ones, we should look for accessories that give us height, such asfascinators with feathers.
  • For long faces, we will need smaller and plainer accessories, such as a boater hat, which will provide balance and harmony to our figure.
  • And finally, for diamond faces, we would opt for something subtle and simple, such as a small fascinator, leaving aside excess and large fascinators.
