The most beautiful, elegant and wearable communion dresses
Communion season is approaching, and if you have a child making their First Communion, you're probably looking for the perfect dresses. Communions are family events where we go to church and support the children receiving their First Communion with the greatest joy and innocence of someone between 8 and 10 years old. Therefore, we mustn't forget that, just like the bride on her wedding day, they are the stars of this day. So, at Mariquita Trasquilá, we've put together some tips to help you choose the most beautiful, elegant, and wearable First Communion dresses. Because we know that being the perfect guest is paramount. If you're a mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, or cousin of a child making their First Communion, you should know that finding a flattering, versatile, and elegant First Communion outfit is easier and more affordable than you think. Considering that most First Communions are celebrated in the morning, we've put together a list of dos and don'ts for First Communion dresses.
Choices for communion dresses:
- To be the perfect guest and choose the right dress for a First Communion, the first thing you should know is that cocktail dresses are always a safe bet. In fact, the simpler they are, the better, because that way you'll have the opportunity to recycle them and wear them again on another occasion. For example, we can recommend the New Smoking Dress .
- Yes to skirts paired with a blouse! This combination is perfect for First Communion celebrations. Plus, since it's a two-piece set, you'll have even more options after the Communion and want to wear them for other occasions. For example, the Belted Midi Skirt paired with the Lantern Sleeve Blouse (the head-to-toe look in dusty green is super trendy). Or the Herringbone Midi Skirt with the Madame Blouse .
- Yes, absolutely yes to palazzo pants! This style of pants has a touch of glamour that will make us look elegant and incredibly stylish. Plus, we can pair them with tops, bodysuits, or blouses.
- Jumpsuits. Those garments that were largely forgotten but made a strong comeback a few years ago, carving out a huge niche for themselves and staying with us for quite some time. The only downside is how inconvenient they are when you need to use the restroom. But they'll give you a more youthful look. For example, the Selene Jumpsuit .
- Regarding colors, for First Communions it's the opposite of weddings. Yes to white! It's the perfect time to show off a head-to-toe white look. Natural, neutral tones also look great for these occasions. In addition, navy blue is a fantastic combination; it's a very spring-like color, more cheerful than black, and you can add bold and fun accessories in different colors.
- Prints will look great on your communion dresses. Flowers, polka dots, gingham checks… However, when it comes to prints, we do recommend choosing softer colors.
- Clutch bags or those with a chain strap are always a good choice. However, let's try to avoid black for First Communion celebrations.
- As for hairstyles, we recommend opting for a natural look: loose hair, a ponytail, a simple braid, or a pretty headband. This will give you a more youthful and relaxed look, perfect for a First Communion. Avoid updos and buns.
Mistakes with communion dresses:
- Long dresses. You know we love them and we're crazy about those gorgeous dresses we have on our website, but for these occasions, we definitely recommend short-midi dresses.
- Very tight and/or low-cut dresses. These are not events for showing skin; let's not forget that communion dresses are for a children's event.
- As a recommendation, try to avoid sequins, metallic fabrics, and satin. These types of fabrics are perfect for evening events, but they aren't as suitable for communion dresses.
- No to excessive makeup. First Communions are events where naturalness is a hallmark of elegance.
- Headpieces are fine, but keep them simple. You know we love wide-brimmed hats, but in this case, we recommend opting for simpler, more natural headbands.
