Breast Cancer: Mariquita joins the fight
This time, at Mariquita Trasquilá, we're getting a little more serious than usual. We're talking about something that affects all of us and that every woman should be aware of and get appropriate check-ups for: breast cancer. Recently, one of our colleagues had news to share with us. Leonor was suffering from an illness whose name makes many of us tremble and which is more widespread than we would like: breast cancer. But despite how difficult it was, she continued working with us and has shown great courage. She is an inspiration to all of us thanks to the strength she displays. Every morning, she confronts this "little bug" with her colorful smiles. Leonor is not the only one. Many women suffer from this disease daily. In most cases, these brave women manage to overcome their worst enemy. But, for that, they need great professionals and, sometimes, a little extra help.
You can collaborate in the fight against cancer with the most supportive dress: the Leonor model
At Mariquita Trasquilá, along with the invaluable collaboration of Marta in Brazil, we want to do our bit and help financially to find a cure to eradicate "the dreaded bug." Our colleagues at Marta in Brazil have given us this collection to achieve our goal. When we first saw the dress, we thought it couldn't be more fitting. The pink of thousands of ribbons symbolizing the daily struggle of these heroines, beautiful hummingbirds for the fighters to keep flying, the light blue of the sky, which has no borders... And, in another design, a whole garden of flowers; such a feminine symbol. 60% of the proceeds from the sale of each Leonor dress will go to the Trebujena Cancer Association. They are almost sold out, but we can still continue to be supportive: with hummingbird and floral prints. Its fabric is fresh and soft. In addition, it has a drape that looks phenomenal. The dress is beautiful, but the cause it's destined for is even more so.
More about our dresses
Trebujena Cancer Association
Since its founding in April 2016, the ACCT is always there when needed. Around 100 members who donate €24 annually and 13 wonderful people form this association. Day after day, they try to raise all possible help to collect funds that will go to the Biomedical Research Foundation of Cádiz located in Puerta del Mar Hospital. Whether at City Council events or parties of any kind, the Association is always at the bar raising funds through the sale of drinks and sandwiches. They also sell t-shirts, handmade bracelets, and backpacks. But, without a doubt, the biggest event is "The Pink March." This march is held on Breast Cancer Day, with great participation from the people of Trebujena. And, despite having managed to donate €6,000 in 2 years, this figure is tiny to make progress.
Pepa, another great fighter
One of those women who offers her help daily is Pepa. 15 years ago, she discovered she had breast cancer. At just 32 years old and with two children, aged 3 and 1 respectively, she had to face this disease for the first time. After a treatment that lasted 5 years, she overcame her breast cancer. But in April 2017, the bug came knocking at her door again. This time Pepa knows the situation she is facing and she does it as only she knows how: with her best smile. This heroine, in addition to fighting her "little bug," helps all people going through a similar situation thanks to her daily work. Pepa is the President of the Trebujena Cancer Association. In recent weeks, we have talked a lot with her to get all the Ladybirds to help women like her or our dear Leo as much as possible. We look forward to seeing all of you wearing this very special dress, and we say goodbye until the next blog. Don't forget to follow us on our Social Media so you don't miss anything.
