We are one, Mariquita joins the fight against cancer

This time, the Mariquita Trasquilá team is getting a bit more serious than usual. We're talking about something that affects us all, something every woman should be aware of and get checked regularly. Recently, one of our colleagues had some news to share. Leonor was suffering from an illness whose name makes many of us shudder, and which is more widespread than we'd like: breast cancer. But despite how difficult it was, she continued working with us and has shown great courage. She's an inspiration to us all thanks to the strength she displays. Every morning she faces this "little bug" with her bright smiles. Leonor is not alone. Many women suffer from this disease every day. In most cases, these brave women manage to overcome their worst enemy. But to do so, they need highly skilled professionals and, sometimes, a little extra help.

You can contribute to the fight against cancer with the most charitable dress: the Leonor model

At Mariquita Trasquilá, with the invaluable collaboration of Marta in Brazil, we want to do our part and contribute financially to finding a cure to eradicate "this damned bug." Our colleagues at Marta in Brazil have kindly provided us with this collection to help us achieve our goal. When we first saw the dress, we thought it couldn't have been more perfect. The pink of thousands of ribbons symbolizing the daily struggle of these heroines, beautiful hummingbirds to encourage the fighters to keep soaring, the sky blue, which knows no borders... And, on another of them, a whole garden of flowers; such a feminine symbol. 60% of the proceeds from the sale of each Leonor dress will go to the Tebujena Cancer Association. They're almost sold out, but you can still support them: they come in hummingbird and floral prints. The fabric is cool and soft, and the drape is absolutely stunning. The dress is beautiful, but the cause it supports is even more so.

More about our dresses

Trebujena Cancer Association

Since its founding in April 2016, ACCT has always been there when needed. This association is comprised of approximately 100 members who donate €24 annually and 13 wonderful individuals. Day after day, they strive to raise as much money as possible to support the Biomedical Research Foundation of Cádiz, located at the Puerta del Mar Hospital. Whether at town hall events or any kind of festival, the Association is always at the front of a bar, raising funds by selling drinks and snacks. They also sell t-shirts, handmade bracelets, and backpacks. But without a doubt, their biggest event is "The Pink March." This march takes place on Breast Cancer Awareness Day and draws a large crowd from the town of Trebujena. And, despite having raised €6,000 in two years, this amount is far too small to make significant progress.

Pepa, another great fighter

One of those women who offers her help daily is Pepa. Fifteen years ago, she discovered she had breast cancer. At just 32 years old, with two children, ages 3 and 1, she had to face this disease for the first time. After five years of treatment, she overcame her breast cancer. But in April 2017, the disease returned. This time, Pepa knows the situation she's facing and she's doing it as only she knows how: with her best smile. This heroine, in addition to battling her own cancer, helps others going through similar situations through her daily work. Pepa is the President of the Trebujena Cancer Association. In recent weeks, we've spoken with her extensively to find ways, together with all the Ladybirds, to help women like her and our dear Leo. Looking forward to seeing you all wearing this very special dress, we'll say goodbye until the next blog post. Don't forget to follow us on our social media channels so you don't miss a thing.
