Sales: How to shop without being scammed
Tips to make the most of sales and avoid scams
Hello Ladybird! For days now, in most stores, we can see very attractive discounts and promotions. Thanks to the summer sales, many consumers can buy products at cheaper prices. Furthermore, these types of offers allow stores to sell off many of their products more easily. However, sometimes, sales can be accompanied by confusion, commotion, and deception.
During these periods of increased shopping, almost all consumers have detected fake sales. That's why we have compiled a list of 6 foolproof tips to counteract the most common tricks used by stores during these discount periods.
1. Not exchanging defective products
Some stores only offer a store credit as an alternative for exchange, even though consumer associations insist that if the establishment has another identical product in its 'stock', it is obliged to give it to you.
Both in our physical stores and in our online store, you will always find excellent service from our girls, who will try to resolve any questions or incidents you may have with the garments. At Mariquita Trasquilá, quality is the most important thing.
2. Advertising more discounts than are applied
The discount on the product must be as advertised; it cannot be inflated to attract consumers. However, we have all observed false promotions during sales seasons. Haven't we?
If you like a garment from the beginning of the season, be very clear about its initial price and the discount applied when the sales begin. That way, you can check if the final price matches the indicated percentage 😛
3. Engaging in misleading advertising
At least 50% of the total items in the store must be discounted to legitimately claim that the store is in a SALE period. If the price reduction affects less than half of the 'stock', these are considered occasional discounts.
4. Selling clothes that were not previously in the store
Many fashion brands manufacture or purchase products to sell exclusively during these periods. This way, they sell products as "discounted" when they are not, because they didn't exist in the store before.
At Mariquita Trasquilá, you will see that our collection items are the ones you can currently find on SALE. We like to be clear and transparent, so if you filled your cart with your favorite clothes and accessed it when we started our SALES, you would have noticed that the discounted items have always been part of our collection.
5. Preventing payment by card for discounted products
If there are logos for VISA, Mastercard, American Express, etc. at the store entrance, it means the store does accept their use, so they are not allowed to discriminate by item.
6. Repricing products
Some stores raise the prices of their products at the last minute to increase the discounted percentage. It's not uncommon in some well-known chains to see several labels pasted over the original one. If you see this, be alert and check those previous labels in case the price had changed just before the SALES.
Remember that the secret to making the most of sales is to make informed and conscious decisions. Enjoy the excitement of shopping, but always with intelligence and style! 🛍️💃🏽✨
